Problem with Sony Vaio Laptop Keyboard?

A few days ago I started having problems with my Sony Vaio laptop keyboard. The keys 'Shift' (the right one mostly, but sometimes the left one too), 'Spacebar', 'F', 'H', 'J', 'L', 'W' and sometimes 'D' don't work properly. I have to press them multiple times to get them to work. Some of the letter keys I mentioned do work regularly if I push the key next to them first (H always works if I push G first, F always works if I push D first, W always works if push Q first and most of the time L will work if I push K first.)

I've had the laptop for a little over a year without any problems. I've never spilled anything on my keyboard or dropped the laptop, or anything like that.

Does this sound like a virus, or some sort of hardware issue? I did a deep system scan with VIPRE anti-virus software and it didn't come up with anything. Anyone know how to fix this?
