Hey folks...

New member long time lurker...

Ok here is my problem...

I am running two recievers. A HD 6100 and regular analog 3100. The HD reciever works perfect. My problem lies with the 3100. It has been sitting inactive since December I would say. Hooked it up today (through the same dish) and its telling me my programming isn't subscribed to, yet everything works perfect on the other set. basically all my channels are locked or don't even show up in the program guide, all I get to view are the preview channels for events, etc.

My signal is good, everything is good, why is the 3100 doing this? Any help would be great.....

Since your reciever has been disconnected for some time, it needs to download the latest software and programming from bell. You have two choices. Leave it hooked up and within the next few days everything should be back to normal or call bell and tell them that you haven't used this receiver and need it activated again. They will go through a bunch of stuff with you and you should be up and running within a couple of hours.

Other threads deal with this but the card goes inactive after about a week unless unit is kept plugged in with dish hooked up. You have three options...
1. wait for a few days and the channels will eventually reappear
2. call Expressvu and ask them to reauthorize your channels
3. Pretty sure you go into the menu and then Customer support and then maybe technical assistance and there should be an option to reauthorize the box

Thanks guys.....This has been giving me a massive head ache all day. The reciever did do a download when I plugged it in, but the problem still came. I don't really want to call bell, only because customer service is terrible with them and I don't want to waste my day sitting on hold for 6 hours.

At least it sounds like if I leave it for a few days it will work, or I can try to walk through the menu.

I was also told about a possible reflashing? I am not familiar with a reflash, so if this is an option as well, how could I do that?

Again thanks everyone!

Also....to go into the menu/customer service section...does my reciever need to be connected to the phone line?

ok...I tried to do that and it just kept me waiting as it loaded forever...so I cancelled it......I will go try again and see if I can't fix this issue...

Well it appears to be stuck "loading the application"...over 10 minutes now, so I can't even get to the screen to try to reauthorize it.

Same thing happening here as well and I do have a working phone line plugged in so thats not it. Might as well leave it on the loading screen while you wait the six hours on hold calling Expressvu:D

Ya i will I'll let it sit here for a while and come back and check it later...thanks for the help man!

The smartcards keys are outdated, your programing will return after the next key change, or you can call bell or or long in to bell.cs and resync your programing.

Actually, it has nothing to do with a key change.

Go to a non-interactive channel or even an 'open' channel such as 198.
As mentioned above, your options are:

1) Wait. It may take up to 48 hours for your programming to return. After that time, if it still hasn't returned, you are looking at one of the options below. It is advisable to connect your phone line as well as this can help speed up the process. Forcing a dial out is not a bad idea either.

2) Call. Request a re-sync of your programming. Within 20 minutes to 24 hours (usually before you get off the phone) your system will be re-authorized.

3) Web. Log into your account on the bell site. Find and select the re-sync programming option. Within 20 minutes to 24 hours your system will be re-authorized. I believe there is a limit and you can only do this once a month.

This is a simple situation with a simple resolution, not sure why it is causing you a lot of concern and giving you a headache :)

Actually it has everything to do with a key change. The reason why a subbed ( but disconnected) receiver losses it's programming is because it is not in the stream when the new keys are sent out to the smart cards.

Because the keys may possibly be updated during this time period.

Just log it to bell.ca and sync your programming.

Ok, we agree to disagree. I think you are missing the difference between tiers (this is the issue here) and keys (this is not the issue here).

Tiers - Authorization for programming (common referred to as tiers) is stored on the CAM and represents the channels you receive. These tiers expire after a set number of days unless extended. This has nothing to do with keys and is the cause of a card "expiring" when not in use.

Keys - Encryption keys change whenever they feel like it. (could change hourly, daily weekly). There are 2 sets of keys stored on the CAM, an active set and either the previous set or the next set that will be activated. These are sent on a continual basis every 5 minutes or so. If your receiver has been unplugged for a SHORT period of time and the programming tiers are still valid, then it usually takes up to 5 minutes for the keys to "roll". This is not the cause of the problem that the OP is reporting.

Technically, 2 completely different issues with 2 completely different resolutions.

Activation/deactivation is a third scenario, completely different again from the above 2 issues, but is not related to the OP issue.
