I recently bought a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSE and it ran perfectly for the first month or so. Recently though, all of my gauges drop and then go to the other side, drop again and then go back to normal (The same thing that it does when it first starts up. I don't know if that is normal but if it is then other owners know what I mean). That's not the only thing though. Sometimes, my brakes will act up too with it. The ABS system light and the traction off light will come on and the brakes will loose resistance, catch for a second, then loose resistance again (repeats). When that problem stops the lights for the ABS system and traction off turn off. Please help! I have been doing some research and so far that only thing I have found that might be the problem is the Fuel Pressure Regulator but that does not make sense with the function of the regulator and the problems I am having. I just want to see what everyone else has to say before I take it to a mechanic so I don't pay more money then I have to on things that wont fix it. Please please please help!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you need more info to help me just ask. I really need to find the problem.
Would having a mechanic hook the car up to a computer work on this car to find out what the problem is? Do they have that for '97?
I also did not really think it was the regulator cause it did not seem to have much to do with the fuel but I did notice I am not getting the MPG I did when I first got it.
