Problem with MLB '07 the show for PS2?

I already am getting '08, but in the meantime, my '07 freezes everytime I try doing franchise or career on the screen that says "INITIALIZING ROSTERS" the music keeps playing and all but it wont go past the screen. What could be the problem?
