problem with messaging

I have an LG ally and just downloaded the most recent update and now my messaging has stopped working, completely. I can't receive texts, make texts or view texts, it just gives me a black screen. Any ideas?
 
Have you both tried clearing the application data for the Messaging application? Something like Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications (wait 30 seconds for the icons to appear properly) -> Messaging (or whatever your messaging app is called) -> Clear data.

By doing this, you will lose ALL of your saved messages. But it sounds like you can't access them anyway.
