The steering is loose feeling at low speeds (feels like the wheels move independently from each other) and "wanders" at high speeds. I have checked the ball joints, and all links in the tie rods and center link. They are all tight. I replaced the idler arm, which had a little play, but that didn't improve anything. Any stories about steering repairs on '91-'96 Chevy Caprice, Buick Roadmaster, or Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser would be greatly appreciated.
I did not replace the pitman arm, but thats going to be the next step. It doesnt appear loose, but I guess I have to try something.
Also, I had someone turn the steering wheel while I was under the car, and everything seems tight throught the column and the box. As well as all other joints. Wheels will still move independently of each other.
