It started by the engine make a clanking noise similar to when it's low on oil. Well, it ended up overheating. On my drive home, it started overheating again, and the engine lost acceleration similar to when it had a misfire problem. I pulled over and the exhaust was pumping black smoke. Someone pulled over to help and added water. Well, the engine shakes horrible and sputters. The exhaust pumps out a kind of white smoke now and the exhaust has a significant amount of water vapor. The guy had said that the oil doesn't have enough water mixed in it like it should have. I drove it a few hundred feet to get it to a safe location off the side of the road and when I did, it had a significant water leak, directly under the engine, not in the vicinity of the radiator.

Thoughts?

Blow head gasket. Cracked block . Probably cheaper to get a new motor then pour money into this one.

Change the oil and turn your car on in park and give it gas for a good half hour or so to burn up any water that could have gotten into your engine

sounds like the end result is the vehicle got so hot that you blew a head gasket because the top of the engine (the head) got so hot it warped and the gasket blew between the top of the engine and the main block. that explains the white smoke. the radiator antifreeze mixed in with the oil and blew out the exhaust as a white smoke. your engine is probably gone. and judging by the situation the original black smoke may have been a blown piston ring due to poor oil engine service.

With something like this, it almost sounds like an intake manifold (not uncommon, coolant getting into the air intake, and water mixing in the combustion chamber will cause a misfire and white smoke out the rear. and depending on where the leak is, it could also be leaking externally as well. It could also be a head gasket causing the same problems, or it could even be a cracked block, there are many possibilties. Personally, since we are unable to see the vehicle, I would suggest taking it to a garage and having it checked over. It could be one or multiple problems causing this. Take it to a garage and tell them exactly what happened, and since it overheated, tell them so, tell them what you were doing, and what it was doing when it was acting up initially.

The engine is seriously damaged from overheating. It is almost certain, beyond any reasonable doubt.
