i have the aftermarket unit, and the wiring harness. but i am confused because when i connect the harness to the set of wires that come out of the factory (chip, or whatever it is called) the wire colors do not match up...and i know i have the right wire harness, but say the red wire coming out of the inside is in the top left slot of that connector, and on the wiring harness (used to connect to the aftermarket as well as the connector coming from the inside) the red wire is a completely different slot. should i just cut the wires that run from the inside and just connect the colored wires from the inside to the aftermarket unit together ? or is there a way of connecting them together without the harness ?
i no longer have my factory unit, so would cutting the wires be the answer ?

note-when i previously tried to connect the same colored wires together from the inside to the wiring harness, i blew several fuses..
