Probable new Lifedrive..

Cool find. As with the 505>515, T1>T2/3, it pays to wait a little bit because historically, there is an inevitable "1st release," followed up rather quickly (weeks) by a much better model.

If they've lightened it up and can address some of the OS quirks mentioned in Tealpoint's newsletters/forum, then they might have a customer in me.

I'm sticking with the T3 - but can see "migrating" if the LD can:

1. Be slightly smaller/lighter
2. Survive a drop with a MOVING hard drive! "Volatile RAM" may be dead - but it didn't matter if it took a "knock." What worries me is the LD slipping out of your hand or being knocked while that drive is spinning.

I'm not sure if a VOX recorder comes with the LD - but that would be a nice improvement. Some will want a camera. I'm more concerned with basic stability of programs and the ability to properly back them up to card - I have done every "restore" from an SD Card.

Thanks for the news T3Gunner.

Unless they change the size and form factor, I don't see how a 6gb drive compared to a 4gb drive is going to make much difference. There are basic stability problems that haven't been solved with the current Life Drive and Palm needs to work on these before bringing out a new model.

Jim, I totally agree. It seems like Palm is desperate with their plummeting marketshare and are taking the MP3 player mentality that more capacity is better.

Personally, I'd like a PDA that is practically all screen, very thin, light and with good battery life. I still use my Clie TH55 and the buttons on the back are perfect for one handed use. In todays market, people are tired of carrying a cell phone and a PDA so if Palm wants to sell PDA's they need to make them more pocketable, not bricks like the LifeDrive. I'm still waiting...sigh.
