I tried Proactiv for about a week and a half to two weeks, and it only seemed to make my skin worse. So I stopped using it. Is it normal for it to cause breakouts before it begins to work? Or was two weeks long enough to prove it doesn't work for me? Just asking cause I'm thinking of trying it again...

I used it for about a week also and it made my skin so much worse. It cause me to get about 5 huge painful cysts on my cheeks - so painful that I could not even smile - worse than anything I had before I started using it.

I'm not sure how typical initial breakouts are considering in their commercials people say it started working in the first week...

Needless to say, I stopped after a week...not worth it for me.

yes it's normal to have such breakouts in the beginning.. you really need to give it 3-4 weeks to determine if it's going to work for you or not. It's been awhile since I used it so I don't remeraber how long my initial breakouts lasted.. it's usually about a 2 week period. If you use prescription strength creams it's the same way..

I bought the travel size just to test it out, and to be honest it was still expensive, but anyway. I used the whole thing, which is about a months worth of product and it made my skin worse, even though i used it for about a month i didn't make anything better. I guess it just doesn't work for some people.
