private teaching in Japan, transportation costs?

I am going to start teaching privately in Japan. The lessons will be at the student's home. The lessons price is 3000 but I wonder if I can ask for transportation costs apart from that. I know language schools pay the teacher's transportation costs but I don't know if it is normal when doing private lessons so I'd appreciate hearing your opinion. Thanks.
