Have either one of these meRAB worked effectively for anyone? I understand you must take them 2 weeks consecutively for any signs of improvement, however, how safe is it to get on or off them, and might they cause other problems in the long-run?

Both PrilosecOTC and Zantac are very effective (although no medication works the same for everyone). You don't need to take either one for two weeks to see an improvement, but it may take that long before they start to improve some of the long-term symptoms of acid reflux. Zantac is very fast acting and starts to help with some symptoms in a few hours while Prilosec may take a day or two (but Prilosec tenRAB to be more effective at blocking the production of acid). Both are very safe.

just curious, on the box it says do not use more than 2 weeks. and if you have to use it more than that to go see a doc. I tooks 3 in the course of 5 days, and feel a sense of heaviness in the stomach, as if I ate something that didn't agree with me - could these cause this? I never felt this before and I did not eat anything out of the ordinary.

Hi Candp, I answered your other post, but I will answer this one as well, I have taken Prilosec since 1993, most recently I switched over to the OTC for money purposes, there has been no problems with switching. And oh yeah, I have never had that heaviness feeling in the stomache.

I think I will give prilosic a try - Unfortunately, no insurance at the moment, but I think this is over the counter?

Candp, because the OTC is a lower strength than the prescription, you can if needed take more than one, BUT i WOULD TRY TAKING ONE AT NIGHT AND ONE IN THE MORNING.

Yes, it is over the counter. I get it at Costco, and I buy their generic one, it is cheaper.
