pride & prejudice (with Keira Knightley)

From the clips I've seen, I'm not a fan but saying that I won't pass verdict till I've watched the whole movie.

I saw it in the cinema. Knightley pouts her way through it and shouts a lot, and McFadyen is remarkably wet.

I would say give it a miss, but what do I know, the Americans seem to love it

The film was ok

Keira Knightly didnt deserve her oscar nomination at all it was a mediocre performance, plus she annoyed the hell out of me by pouting constantly which she does in all her films

If you don't know the P&P story, the film is very difficult to follow. It's okay I suppose, though Mr Bennet comes across as the weirdest character since Harold Bishop. Mr Darcy looks nervous and confused throughout the film and Mr Bingley is such a smug pansy of a man, it's horrible.

Oh yeah and Lydia is scary. She's like that girl from the film Exorcist. I kept picturing her head spinning round.

The film is LOVELY. Honestly, the way it has been directed and the music and the costumes and everything... just beautiful. Absolutely love it. Haven't yet bought it but I will be doing so :)

I haven't seen the original (and by this I mean the most popular version - the BBC serfies) but my frienRAB who have say though the 2005 one can't match it, it's still really good.

I too am a big fan of the 1995 BBC version but I also did enjoy the 2005 film as well. Obviously due to time constraints you don't get the full P&P story and the entire sub plot with Wickham is reduced to a couple of scenes. Also some characters are missing completely.

I am going to rent it for a second viewing but doubt if I'll buy it

It's definitely not worth buying. I say that as someone who had little choice of films on a recent long haul flight!!

Keira Knightley was Keira Knightley, if she wins an oscar I'll be as outraged as one can be about an award ceremony for a bunch of overpaid luvvies...

Visually, the film is lovely. Enjoyed performance of the elder sister Mary Bennet and thought Macfadyen was very good as Darcy (not wet at all, to my mind, as another poster said). Donald Sutherland wasn't much cop and Brenda Blethyn, whilst good, didn't match Alison Steadman for me.
