Price Matching

In stores T-Mobile has their BB Pearl 8100 listed for 149.99, online through Amazon and Wirefly you can get them for free. What are the chances of T-Mobile price-matching in the stores if I bring them an online printed invoice?

Depends on the store and how bad they need the activation. I know in our store we won't price match for online prices but we won't support the customer either since we didn't get any commission on it. Not trying to be mean when we do that but we are an independent dealer and only get paid for activations we did. It cost too much money and time to support someone else's sale.

When you say your store, that isnt an official T-Mobile store? I'm thinking a T-Mobile store would price match since they don't get commission off phone sales. donno though -_-

T-Mobile stores do get commission off of phone sales. All cellular store employees that work for corporate in my area make commission off of each phone sale they do. That doesn't mean that a corporate store won't be able to price match since the manager can in some instances do a price override but that depends on the manager, their sales quota for the month, etc....... It varies by the location.

Customer care doesn't get commission for phone sales which is why they can almost always price match to the web.

Ahh gotcha I must've misunderstood. Guess I'll give their 800 number a shot then. If that doesnt work I'll wait till the end of the month and try a few stores :P

Thanks

Corp stores are not suppose to price match online retailers. Only locally advertised prices. Online retailers do not have the overhead that corp stores and dealers do so they can undercut the prices, but sometimes like the indirect said. Is it fair to buy online and then come into an indirect or a direct store and spend an hour asking them every question under the sun? Also, online retailers generally make you sign secondary contracts that make it so you can't change ANYTHING on the plan for at least 6 months. So if you screwed up and picked too small a plan and you need to go up then Amazon or Wirefly can charge you the $250 or whatever they discounted the phone. They do this because they could have made more $$ at the time of activation if you had picked that plan and I guess it in general pisses them off. I don't know all the details 'why' but just know that they do and people will call in to T-Mobile to get a credit or to fix it but it's nothing T-Mobile did so you're stuck w/the charges.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i did my research and decided to buy my phones from the kiosk in Sams. The online retailers have a catch to the free phone. Didn't want to find out! I got my activation fee waived and got the phones for 98.73 each lol! I'm happy with that!

Cosco stores have some very nice deals as well...I got a pearl for $49 (after rebate) and they covered the activation fee, gave a $15 credit on the first bill, and included a car charger (nice) and a holster (ehhh)....DID NOT require a data plan. I could have gotten the pearl for free on line but would have required a data plan I did not need in this case.
