Prevent bicycle from getting stolen?

Ok, so i bought a cheap but decent looking new bike(less than 200) and the next day it was stolen. I locked it with chains yet they were stolen. the thief didn't even leave the lock for me to keep. i wonder how did he break the lock?? or do u think theere's some sort of lock-opener(it was stole in the afternoon so he muz be really fast). anyways, how to prevent my future bike frm being stolen.
 
eventhough you use the cycle lock, its advisable to use an another locker to avoid theft. You must use a wirelock (cable lock) for it.
