Pretty Little Liars DVD is an American suspense teen drama television series for ABC Family based on the Pretty Little Liars series of novels by Sara Shepard. The show premiered on June 8, 2010. The series follows the lives of four girls — Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily — whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their queen bee, Alison. One year later, they begin receiving messages from someone using the name "A" who threatens to expose their secrets — including long-hidden ones they thought only Alison knew.
After an initial order of 10 episodes, on June 28, 2010, ABC Family ordered an additional 12 episodes for season one. The episodes will begin airing on January 3, 2011. The ratings success of the first 10 episodes prompted the book series to be extended beyond the initial eight novels.
