Pretend you are a fish, and it is mating season.
You are swimming around in whatever sea you please, and you spot a gorgeous fish talking with someone that obviously appears to be their mate. They are casually talking, and you think to yourself that it is time to keep moving and find someone else. Right when you pass this gorgeous fish, their mate springs into a panic and swims to the furthest location possible. You see that gorgeous mate, all lonely and whatnot, so you go and talk to her and become great friends. They eventually become your mate.
If you were the main fish in the story, what would you be thinking?
