Prescribed Acylovir for skin allergy

I have a skin allergy (allergy to metal) and tend to get blisters. I was in Thailand recently and they prescribed Acyclovir for this. On return I was looking at the web and can only see that Acyclovir is for herpes. Can anyone tell me if Acyclovir can be used for allergies?
 
Each country's drug adminsittration determines what a medicine can be prescribed for in that particular country. It may be that it is approved for it in Thailand and not in the UK or somewhere else....just like some drugs are OTC in one country and prescription only in another.
