As of now, I just recently graduated high school and am extremely in love with graphic design and illustration, and plan on making those two my majors (or maybe one will be a minor) when I go to college. Right now, I am interested in the Art Center College of Design in Pasedena, California. I was wondering, in general, before one enters art school, should one take regular basic classes (English, Math, Science, etc.) like any regular college student should? I do not have the required portfolio right now, and do not plan on going into art school yet, but am lost at what I should do now. Are there any classes I should consider taking?
Also a little side question is, does it matter how much art I've taken? I only took an Art I class in high school, but since my senior year, art has taken spotlight in my life. I practice graphic design and illustration a lot in my free time. My dream job would be to do design things and also create comics/graphic novels.
