I am doing all the prep. work to get my vegetable garden going this year. In the past I've always used plants that were already grown, but this year we ordered seeds from Gurney's and Henry Fields. Can anyone give me some basic tips or tricks that they've learned when growing a garden this way? Also, my seed packets are marked 68 days, 100 days, etc. Is that the start to finish time (ie from the time the seed hits the ground till the time you can begin harvest) or is it from the time the plant germinates till harvest, or what? I'm in southern michigan, so i know I've got some time yet, but I wanted to get as much planning done now as possible. Oh, and if it matters I'll have a variety of veggies incl. tomatoes, peppers (sweet and hot), beans, peas, strawberries, melons, corn, onions, and a few other things. Thanks to all who answer!!!
