Preparing for my Wharton (University of Pennsylvania) application?

Here's hoping

I might take a shot at Harvard and Yale too but my main goal is to be accepted in Wharton. I go to a University-preparatory school.

I have a Wharton alumni relation(Would be good for the recomendation) he also lectured in Yale.

I also have a Harvard alumni relation....

I will, most likely, not avail any form of financial aid from any university.

I just completed my Grade 10 level. However, I am still in the process of completing my Grade 9 courses this summer for I just moved to the U.S. from Germany a year and a half ago.

I'm upon my Grade 9 Spanish credit currently, but I have to take Grades 10,11,12 Spanish eventually. I need them for the four language credits, they recommend having them.

I am very thorough when it comes to my grades. What I have been wondering for so long is the extra activities I have/want to participate in. Relating to business of course.......

Here's my laid out plan

Grade 11 days, I can't do anything but to volunteer in charities and join Interact (Youth division of Rotary)
Grade 11 Summer.......
A summer enrichment program for HS students in major (business, science, technology)
Grade 12......Continue what I have been doing, then take up some more programs(outside of school),
Grade 12 summer...
Establish my own business....a restaurant or some mid-size establishment.

I plan to take a gap-year BEFORE I even dare to apply to any university....
In this gap year.......my aunt and I have talked about setting up a small organization in an African country of our choice (Probably Uganda) which will help locales in micro business or helping them establish their own small economy......

Anything I can add to my extra-curricular ? If you have been paying attention...all that I am asking about is the activities that I should take....not those "Have to have a high GPA, blah blah". I know what I am doing.

First off, the best thing you can do, is study for your tests. Study your a** off. They don't care so much about the extra-curricular activities.

As far as gap year, why not apply before, since you can just defer admissions?

And as far as micro-banks, let me tell you from personal experience of setting up my own micro-finance charity & starting a few banks, it is VERY challenging and not for amateurs. You really have to be a professional and have some sort of infrastructure supporting you (most likely an experienced charity), as well as local staff to prevent them from taking advantage of a rich foreigner (ie, you). Don't be naive about their intentions! It really won't look 'good' on your application if your banks fail. Micro-finance is kinda getting passe to be impressive, anyways. Actually, email me [email protected] if you care and I can give you some advice about that last subject since I've actually done it. No, my banks haven't failed!
