Preowned Acura vs. Lexus purchase?

Had been thinking lately that I might be purchasing a NEW vehicle (a MINI Cooper S, or maybe a Corolla or Civic or something?), but then realized that I might be able to get most everything I'd like in a Certified, Pre-owned Lexus or Acura (maybe a 2004, `05 or `06), at the same cost or less, and maybe save on insurance, personal property tax, etc.

I don't know much about Acura's but aren't they in the same class with the Lexus? Is it true that I could (in general) get an Acura equally appointed (with similar options) less expensively than a Lexus (in basically an "apples-to-apples" - same year/options/etc. - comparison)? And can an Acura be serviced properly at a Honda dealer (would they have many of the same/proper parts)?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, Acura and Lexus are in the same class. Acura is owned by Honda, while Lexus is owned by Toyota. Personally, I think Acura is more sporty and for younger people, because of its edgy appearance (TL, RSX, TSX), but I like Lexus more because it looks more classy. If you're planning to purchase a car soon, I would suggest buying it new, finance the payment, because the APRs are low right now. Unless you get a really good deal on a used car (check www.kbb.com for used cars to make sure you're not paying more than you have to). In a time like this, save your cash and finance big purchases!
