Premium fuel for a 2000 pontiac bonneville ssei?

i own a 2000 pontiac bonneville ssei. i put regular fuel in it. but i hear it is recomended that you use premium fuel because of the supercharger. can anyone tell if this is true? and if so does it help on performance?
 
yes its true, I owen just about the same car as you do. and it calls for premium fuel because its supercharged,so it has more comp..if you do put in regular fuel just try and drive it easy..do not stomp on the gas..and you will be ok..but i would use PREMIUM FUEL..ok.Just to be safe. can i get 10 points?..
 
Read up on fuel dynamics especially the part about octane levels and it's role in fuel.

Higher compression engines typically need more octane to control the rate of the flame front once ignited.

Performance helped? Yes, as it keeps Internal engine damage from occurring.
