Pregnant guppy fish question?

Okay, I have a pregnant fancy guppy fish. I'm pretty sure she's going to give birth very soon because I can see the fish in her belly. I read online that to keep the fish population from eating the fry, the quick and inexpensive way to separate the pregnant female is to cut off the bottom/top half of a bottle, drill/poke holes in it, and place your fish inside. Now, for the question: Will the bottle cut off her fresh water supply? A little bit of the bottle is sticking out of the water so she will not escape before she gives birth. Yes I know, I have to remove her immediately after she gives birth so she won't eat the fry. Trust me, I've done a lot of research :):) Also, I would buy a net, but the ones I have found so far are far too large for my tank [[until I get another]] and slightly out of my budget. Thanks! :)
