Has that ever happened to any of you?

And I wanted to know how does the 28 day cycle work. Is it how many days after you started your period to your next one or what.

Yes, 28 days is a normal cycle from the day you started your period to the day before your next period. Not all people have a 28 day cycle though. Many women have cycles longer than that. If you are due for your period and the test is negative, you probably are not pregnant.

It can definately happen. Usually it is just because you are not far enough along to have enough hormone in your urine for the test to detect. It could also be a faulty test.
Your cycle starts with "day 1" being the first day of your period. You just count up from there until you start your period the next time. I use the site below for tracking my period and ovulation. It automatically figures your average cycle length for you and it is free. It also has a lot of information in the FAQ and help sections. HTH!

I took a test 14 days past ovulation - and got a negative... then took another at 18 and got a FAINT FAINT FAINT (barely there) positive. I took another one the day after and it was a bit darker. I took another 2 weeks later after that and it was VERY dark. So it is possible.

The way the 28 day cycle works is you count the first day of your last period - and then from there 13-15 days later (generally) you ovulate. This is the time you get pregnant. Ovulation signs are a dip in your basal body temperature ( a temperature taken first thing in the morning before you get up ) and egg white consistancy cervical discharge. Then about 14 days after ovulation you have your period again. The flaw to this is not all women have a 28 day cycle. If your period cycles are longer - day 32 days between periods you are likely to ovulate around 14 days before your period is due.

Unfortunately every time a test told me I was not pregnant, it was right. And I went through allot of those things.
When one did tell me I was, I didn't believe it untill I went to the doctor and he agreed :) It was still almost impossible to believe it.
It took almost 20 years for that one dang test to say yes!

As for the 28 day cycle, you start counting on the first day of your period, even if it's just a light showing. 28 days later is just a number though. Mine are usually shorter. I started marking the calendar at a young age and knew basically when the next cycle would make it's appearance.

With my youngest daughter I took about 30 tests all were negative and had 2 negative blood tests done. When I was around 22 weeks I felt her kicking and went back in asking for a sono and sure enough I was right. Some women just know irregardless of what a test says. Also to figure out your cycle length day 1 is the first day of your period and however long it is goes until the first day of your next cycle. mymonthlycycles.com has a good calander to keep track and it automatically calculates everything for you. Hope this helps if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

you start counting from the day your period until the next one appear then it will give you an ideal exactly how many days your cycle is .
