I just finished school for my certificate in veterinary assisting and my husband and I have been discussing having a child here in the near future. I've come to a lot of realizations while on my internship and need a little guidance as to what to do with my next move.
I'd like to try to conceive within the next couple months and continue working at my stable customer service job then take some time off to raise the child. I could be continuing my education online to get my CVT and stay at home with my child then, so once I am back out in the field, I can go farther than just cleaning kennels.
Or should I continue working at a vet clinic, build a solid position then get pregnant a year or so down the line? I'd hate to do that then tell my boss I can't do half my job duties (x-rays, anesthetic monitoring, etc) then possibly lose my position once I'm out in the field again after giving birth.
I'm just looking for some advice... any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
