Hi everyone,

I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and have been taking Zoloft 100mgs before and during my pregnancy. My doctor has advised me not to go off the Zoloft unless I absolutely feel I must, and he has said he doesn't mind if i take an occasional Xanax (.5mgs) when I'm feeling very panicky, however I am freaking out about it. My anxiety seems to have gotten much worse in the second trimester and I am feeling like I need to take Xanax once or twice a week just to go about my daily duties (trying as hard as I can not to but sometimes I just have to). I know I should ask my doctor what he considers "occasional," but I was looking for reassurance from someone who has been through this. I took probably 3 during my first trimester very early before I knew, and have probably taken 5 or 6 Xanax in the last month and a half.

I don't need anyone to tell me how bad meRAB are while I'm pergnant; I already know there are risks, but my anxiety and depression are so bad that my dr. and I have decided it's better for me to stay on the anti-d's. It's the Xanax use that is worrying me though. Is there an alternative or did anyone else have a healthy baby while using Xanax during pregnancy? Zoloft is great but there are times when i need immediate relief...

Scared and stressed beyond belief:(

Hi mjewell! Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

I took zoloft during the pregnancy of my 2nd child. He is now 13. He did not have any issues after he was born as a result of the zoloft. I don't remeraber the mg. I took.

I don't know about the xanax, but I would think your doctor would would have to feel pretty confident it is okay to take it if he told you that. I always thought that after the 1st trimester it was safer to take certain meRAB. You haven't taken very many, so I wouldn't stress yourself or the baby out by worrying about it. I would mention your concern and the increased anxiety at your next doctor's visit and see what he thinks is a safe amount. My husband said he thought I took xanax the whole time during my pregnancy, but I can't remeraber if I did. This time is so special...enjoy it and don't worry....I am sure the baby is fine.

Thanks, it's good to hear from you! I know I can always count on a response from you. We had an ultrasound Wednesday and everything looks great, which eased my fears a little. Hmm, imagine this, I haven't had any anxiety since then...
