Basically, I'm quite pleased with my Marshall JCM 800 that I got not too long ago. However, when tube changing time rolls around, I'd like to know what a good preamp and poweramp tube combination would be to add a little more gain.
I'm COMPLETELY new to tube amps, so here's what I know
It's a Marshall JCM 800 2204, with two Groove Tubes poweramp tubes, and some preamp tubes (I can't remember how many, it's either three or four), and they're EL34 power tubes and 12AX7 preamp tubes.
So my question is, when it's time to take it to a tech and have the tubes replaced, are there any specific brands or models of these tubes that will give me a little more gain?
