How often did pre-historic humans have sex before we were all brainwashed to want it all the time?

I mean, other mammals in the animal kingdom have sex on a seasonal basis, correct?

So was there a time in our pre-history when our species would engage in sex and then go through an "off" season?

Wouldn't that be more natural? Like other species in the animal kingdom?
