I'm working with my Pulmonologist and Gastroenterologist right now. I get a chronic cough from asthma and from reflux. My cough has been bad lately. I thought it was just asthma, but it turns out that I'm also refluxing again. I have tried all the PPI's out there. Prevacid Solutabs 30mg twice per day helped, but didn't totally get things under control. I'm currently on Kapidex 60 that is a time-release version of the Prevacid (same active ingredient). I've also had a Nissen Fundoplication that has evidently "slipped" and isn't working like it did for the first year. (I had a bug last fall that had me vomiting violently. I assume that factored into this.)
Anyway, I'm out of typical options. I've added Reglan temporarily. My next step is to go on an additional PPI. Basically it is the equivalent of taking PPI's three times per day. I've read a lot about using other supplements with PPI treatment (Zantac and Gaviscon being frequently recommended), but I've never heard of taking three max strength PPI's per day. Anyone out there had this prescribed?
By the way, I still sleep on an incline and follow a modified diet.
