my cousin has a late 90's convertible sebring. she's had many failures in the past months, the most recent being the power steering. i've checked the power steering fluid of course, but thats fine. there is no power steering what so ever.

is there anything else i could check to avoid having to replace the pump? thanks

Perhaps you have been a victim of what I call the "quicky lube" malaise. SO many people go into these oil change centers and get their cars tended to by people that don't know very much about cars. Anyways, someone may have topped up your power steering fluid with actual power steering fluid. This is the WRONG thing to do with this car. Mopar has it's OWN version of power steering fluid. Depending upon the year, some of them use ATF+4. READ your manual. You may have to siphon out the fluid, and replace it with the recommended fluid. You should actually let someone at Chrysler dealership look at it. THere is a regulator valve that may be the cause of your woes, as well. .
