Last night I woke up at 2am thirsty, so I went downstairs to get a drink. The fridge light did not come on & neither was the clock on the cooker. I just assumed that it was a power cut & went back to bed. On my way out of the house this morning I noticed that one of the two spot lights in my front garden had been knocked down. On closer inspection, it had been pulled from the earth & the power wires had clearly been cut (the lights are hidden by plants, so it is doubtful that they would have been passing & saw them). The perpetrator also left two pieces of the cut wire on the front wall. I have been racking my brains to find out who/why this would have been done. I have no known "enemies" in the area and it is a quiet street which does not suffer from much crime. I am assuming that when the power line was cut I must have awoken and my movement around the house may have made the perpetrator run away. Do you think they were just trying to steal the lights or is there something more elaborate going on here? eg: trying to cut the power to the house to "turn off" the alarm? My neighbor is on Holiday, perhaps they thought this would turn off their alarm? Or could it just be Jealously? I cant figure it out... What do you think?
