Power Commander III Install Help

Hi. Could use some advice on a PC III install. I have a '08 Ultra Classic ABS and want to install a Power Commander III USB. It should be stupid simple, except for one issue I am having. The instructions for the ABS version state to place the 1st connector in the space in front of the battery's + terminal. My issue is that I don't see how it can physically fit in there. I've tried a couple different approaches and nothing seems to work. If I could get the f'ing thing in there, I could have it hooked up and running in about 3 minutes.

Anyone else have this issue and find a solution?

It is a tight fit, have to cut the battery tray and really stuff the plug in there. I got tired of messing with it, and was afraid something would break or pull loose. Bad design. Never would run right on my 08 Ultra SE3 so I removed it and went with the new Knightrider XIED system. Installed in less than 5 minutes and provides same or better performance than the PC3, with less hassle. Works with the existing closed loop system maintains a 13.8 AFR. Really works great. Simple plug and play.

I am just posting my solution to this issue, should anyone in my same situation find it beneficial.

So there are many challenges related to installing a PCIII in a Touring model with ABS. Non-ABS installs allow you to route and mount the PC through the frame and under the right side panel. Unfortunately, that is where the ABS unit goes, making this approach impossible. The instructions say to place the one PC connection harness in front of the + battery terminal. This is total bull-shit, as is impossible to do; there just isn't enough room. And, finally, the leads are not long enough to mount on the left side (where this is room). As such, the whole shooting match needs to go under the seat.

I placed the 1st connection (the original ECU female) about where it would sit normally. I pluged the other connector into the ECU and positioned the ECU lengthwise (running front to back) with the connectors in the front, sitting down in the original tray. I secured it with a couple ties. I then velcro'd the PC unit to the top of the rear fender--far enough back that it is in the seat cavern.

Glad that is done. Was easy to do once I had exhausted all documented (but rediculous) options.
