I routed the O2 sensor wire up the front down tubes and under the fuel tank. There is a wire tray under the fuel tank that is perfect for keeping the wire safe and out of the way. Removing the tank isn't too bad a job since you don't have to deal with a cross over tube. Just a few bolts and a quick disconnect on the fuel line and the tank comes right off.

I tried it too - But I couldn't make it work. The wrench I started with didn't have much angle offset. The offset socket is the ticket.

Thanks for the heads up on the wire tray. Any issue with all the dash wiring holding the tank in place? Or, do you just have someone hold it up while you route the wire?

The dash pretty much unplugs and you can lay it out of the way. Also, I waited until the fuel tank was nearly empty before removing it just to make it lighter and easier to wrestle around.

Cool! The pictures would not show up on my computer at work... Now I see what you are talking about on the offset sockets. That would have to be a bunch easier than the way I did it

I don't get it. The Harbor Freight 7/8" sensor socket fit both my front and rear sensors and I had no trouble either removing the old or installing the new. What makes the rear such a problem on the '08's?

I don't know where your's is, but if you got the socket on the sensor and mangaged to get it in the hole, you'd never get the socket off, where mine is located. This phote shows where the new one goes. You can see how tight is is. I removed the connector that goes to the tranny cover so I had a bit more room. I even removed the vent tube.

I routed mine the same way at first and did not like it. I began thinking about how to reroute it and realized the bike had a front O2Sensor before. I went back out to the shop and rerouted the line to follow the original O2 sensor wire. It routes along the bottom of the frame on the right side. I just routed along the same path, cutting one zip tie at a time and replacing with the new wire bound with the rest. Very happy with the results.

It might be a design change from 07 to 08 but I ran into the same issue. There just wasn't enough room to get a socket on the sensor. The area is so tight that if the WB O2 sensor was a half inch longer it wouldn't fit, running into the starter.
