I've had leg, buttock pain for 2 years now and 2 MRI's ( 1 year apart) show substantial disc herniation at L5-S1 area. I'm considering microdiscectomy and am wondering if anyone know of a good doctor/clinic in Minneapolis area?

lameur,

Try the Twin Cities Spine Center - they are in the Piper Building on the Abbott NW campus. They have a nuraber of fellow-trained orthopedic spine surgeons and do great work!

I was going to recommend them, too. There are 10 spinal specialists and several of them are on the faculty at the UMN. Minneapolis is a good city in which to have back problems as there are a nuraber of well-known practioners there.

Another is Dr. Charles V. Burton who is in St. Paul at the Center for Restorative Spinal Surgery-- I think that's the name.

just wanted to add,if you want to swing to the "other" city across the river, there is summit orthopedics. they have some really really amazing orthos there. i have been going there for years and have an amazing ortho who actually also understanRAB chronic pain, and RSD. very unusual, believe me. just thought i would throw that out there for ya too. good luck,Marcia

I have to recommend Midwest Spine Institute, with branches in several different clinics in the Twin Cities. I've been seeing them since March of this year and I have nothing but praise for their programs. Best of luck to you...Bill
