Potassium

Does anyone know what it means if the potassium reading is too high?
Why is it bad? What can be done to get it down?

I had my annual blood check and was told potassium is too high and I have go go back in one month for a follow-up blood test. In the meantime I'm wondering.
Thank you.

Have you had any changes to medications lately? I know some blood pressure meds in the higher doses, such as ACE inhibitor's can make potassium higher.

Also I know decreased kidney function can cause I higher potassium. There are probably many other reasons, as well. It's probably good to go for further testing, just to be on the safe side.

I had the same results and was told it is fairly common for potassium levels to appear elevated in bloodwork due to lab error. My second test turned out normal.
