43 yr old man here---at the age of 21 had an apparent viral infection (swollen nodes, fatigue). Afterwords, was left with two changes to my face:
1) before that I could tan, after that my face just got red and irritated from the sun, and 2) before that I could shave against the grain (for super close shave), after that I had to shave with the grain as going against it would cause 24 hours of face pain (while the hair was growing out?). (Also, an OCD condition got worse at this time.)
Recently moved to sunny locale (ugh) and this has me wondering again about the facial sensitivity. Is it an autoimmune over-reactive leftover of a virus? I would love to know the medical basis for my symptoms...
