2 wks. post op. PLIF L3-4-5.

I have a fluid pocket around the incision. Not very large, about a half-dollar size around. feels like a small water balloon. it moves around with pressure applied. Had staples removed on the 22nd. Incision is clean, not leaking at all. Doc says "keep your eye on it".

Any Ideas?

Hi - Sometimes when we have surgery excess fluid (seroma) collects under the skin and in the tissues. This may feel like a fluid filled ball and look swollen. Watch for signs of redness, warmth, leaking, and painful to the touch. They mostly get absorbed back by the body over a couple weeks. If it continues to grow or get larger it can be drained if it bothers you.

Happy healing
