Hey all,
I had the AxiaLif op L5/S1 in Nov 2009, and since then suffered straight away.
The 1st 3 to 4 weeks I guess was normal because I had just had major Back sugery, but it got worse, and was sent to Hospital for x-rays and everything was fine. All screws ok and all that.
I live in the UK and this Op is new ish to this Country.
Anyway it got to the stage were I started to collaspe with no warning and I was sent for another MRI.
Even before the Surgeon saw the results, she had just returned back from a seminar with Nero-suregeons and my case was brought up. She was told that its very likely that there was a leakage of cement ( the stuff they inserted into the space left when they drilled the Disc out ).
But in some cases it doesnt actually show up on a MRI unless its a major leak.
Its like when you go to the dentist and you run your tongue over a new filling, its all rough, and she was told this would most likely be the cause.
So off I went to see her and while I was waiting for the results she told me all this.
When we both saw the results its very clear I had a major leakage and it very visable on the MRI. Its leaked all over, top, sides and most at the bottom were its very visable.
I now have to under go a lengthy Op now to correct this which is not what I wanted, because its going to be basically opening up to gain proper access to the back and sort it out.
I dont know if anyone else was aware of this problem, and like I said sometimes if its not leaked enough the MRI scan will not pick it up, so they dont know whats up.
I hope it helps some of you to go that bit further and ask the question, if this could be the problem to your pain after the Op.......
But with no mention of this on this forum I thought it worth bringing up.
