So there's A LOT of accutane journals that start off with a flurry and then abruptly stop and you never know what happened in the long run.

While I didn't keep a journal, here's what it's been like:

Low dose course 40mg/once a day for 5 days a week
Duration: 1 year

Initially, sore ankles in the morning, dry eyes which teared too much, fatigue and very vivid dreams. This all went away within a couple of months and was very bearable.

Skin dried out, but was never "dry." I'd consider it to be what most people call "normal." Lips drier but never chapped or sore. Wore lip gloss at all times, even at night. This helped tremendously.

Other than that, no issues! The accutane (claravis, in this case) still had a sedating effect so I'd take it before bed. It helped me sleep.

I've been off for almost a month now. Oil coming back quickly. Hopefully not as much as before. Skin texture was so smooth and is now not as smooth as before.

I did not have an initial breakout while on it and I hope to not have one getting off either.

That's about it. It didn't mess up my blood pressure or cholesterol at all.
Just my two cents to anyone thinking about starting it. It was totally worth it, and hopefully it will prove effective enough to NOT need prescription creams, which didn't really work for me anyway.

wow. a year. never heard of that. i can tell you that the dose was too low to work well. you never increased it to clear up sebum. spiro would have been great to add with that low dose. it's a test. blocker. maybe you can talk to your dermo again.
