Possible to remove MyFaves Icons?

I've tried searching the forums but can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for... I would like to remove the MyFaves icon/program (not sure what it's called) from my 8900. I am keeping the service, but for some reason it just annoys me to have the little circles next to the entry in the phone book and what not. (I know, a little anal!! ) Would it be like removing an application through the options menu? And would it affect the way that TMobile counts the calls to the MyFaves on my account?

Don't know if it works the same on an 8900 but Maxmem can remove the myfaves icon on other BBs.
Not sure if it affects the way TMo counts those calls.

From what I know doesn't affects, cuz willbe deleted on your phone, just to make sure you can go to your acc on tmo page to check if still shows as your favs there

You are able to remove the my faves interface completely from the phone and it will not effect the billing side of things. It takes some modification of the software to do so, so most people find it easier to minimize the my faves display and then hide the icon.

If you do want to completely remove the my faves interface from the phone you do so at your own risk but:

1. On your PC go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\Whatever your software version is... and open up the blackberry alx file. (I would recommend copying the contents of the alx file into notepad in case you need to put everything back the way it was you can just copy it back in.)

2. Find and delete the my faves cod file. (on the 8320 it is net_rim_tmo_five.cod, should be similar in the 8900)

3. Open the desktop manager and run application loader. It should automatically detect that you want to make the change and say something like it is updating or removing something from the 4.x core software.

Again do this at your own risk.

Ok, I tried calling TMoblie, but all they did was talk me through hiding the icons on the home screen. What I am interested in doing is not having the myfaves icon show as part of the incoming call... Plus not having the circles next to the names of the address book entry. Anyone know if this is possible? Did I just not ask the TMobile guy the right question?

I dont know if there is a way to do this but I do know that if you do take them off T-Mobile can charge you minutes to call your myfaves. Part of the contract with the myfaves is that you have to have a myfaves capable phone and if you take it off and some how get charged they could argue that you dont have the right software on the phone for myfaves

Thanks. I don't want to lose the service, and I am afraid of going through and trying to change the software, so I'll just leave it the way it is.

All of that is true that TECHNICALLY T-Mobile could hit you back for those minutes, but they have no way of proving that you went in and deleted the myfaves app. They can only see that you are in fact using a myfaves capable device. Let's not give T-Mobile too much technical credit here

To make something clear, when you sign up for a my fav plan, is not just tracked in the phone but on the system, even if you don't have the icons in your phone you still can manage who is in you 5 favs online, unless you change your plan you won't be chartged.

Hello everyone.
You don't have to have the MYFAVES icons at all on you phone. Up until a couple of days ago, I was using an 8310 BB from AT&T unlocked with my TMobile service. I didn't have the MYFAVES software on it at all. I managed them on line. Never had a problem.
I now have the 8900 and I am looking to remove the MYFAVEs from it because I don't like the home screen showing the cisrcles like it is by default.

I will let you know if what was suggested here works.
