Possible to disable 'Stand by' on Motorola QIP7100 P2 STB?

Just switch to FiOS. Loving it already except one little annoying problem with my STB. Verizon gave me a Motorola QIP7100 P2 STB. It works great except the fact when I power off, it doesn't shut off completely. It goes into stand by. Which is great I guess for the fact it can power on and display video very quickly. But it's creating a problem with my Sony home theater (dav-hdz273) system as it prioritizes Digital Coax input over Optical Input. And there is apparently no way to manually switch over if it detects a signal on the coax, at least I can't figure a way out other than pulling the wire physically. If I want to use another device ex. Xbox or PS3 which I have through optical I have to disconnect the power or coax from the STB because in stand by mode its still sending a signal to the audio system via digital coax.

The true question to summon all this up.... Is there a way to disable the stand by feature and have the STB fully power down? Or manually switch digital inputs on the Sony dav-hdz273?

Thanks in advance.
