Possible pinched nerve

In the last 4 months I have had a stabbing pain just under my left shoulder blade in my back that seems to radiate around to the front of my body and only affects the left side of my body. I have been to the hospital twice in a month and a half and they told me it could be a pinched nerve. They sent me home with pain meRAB and they helped a bit for awhile, but not anymore. Now I cannot sleep due to the horrible pain. I have tried cold, heat, hot baths, back rubs, stretching, and resting. Nothing works.. I have no money or insurance. What can I do to take the pain away?
