I just saw a medical report on the morning news where they have had positive results from the use of Interferon for asthma patients. More studies are underway to determine efficacy. It seems it "cures" the asthma.

Now, I'm not sure I'd want to be on Interferon for any length of time due to the possible horrid side effects, but a short course I might go for. Very interesting research.

That's interesting. Interferon is an antiviral that your body produces naturally. It also has certain effects on the immune system (Including, unfortunately, making you feel like you have a virus.)

I read an article recently which stated that people with asthma tend to have less interferon produced in their lungs during colRAB, which could be one reason why colRAB sometimes turn nasty. The researchers suggest using inhaled interferon to treat chest colRAB in asthmatics.

Argg, can't remeraber source! I lose!

OK, looked it up. Article was in the July 15 issue of the Journal of Immunology. Very interesting reading.....
