possession of an unregistered weapon, and assault with that weapon.?

this was done by an 18 year old.. he didnt shoot the hand gun.. he pistol whipped someone with it...... in miami-dade florida. how long do you think he'll go to jail for, what will happen? i need detailed answers and websites please. please please please.
