Pony needs help with leg wound.?

Hi, Got a pony who has injured the front of her leg on sheet metal, she has had an injections of Penicillin and oral Antibiotics, however my friend has been treating the actual wound by putting manuka honey on the reverse side of a wound dressing pad making the wound airtight ?(which i think isn't to good an idea going on the thought that air would help) then rapping the leg with gamgee padding and vet rap The wound it's self is healing infact there in quite alot of proud flesh but the skin around the wound is coming off making the area very raw! now she has suggested putting sulpher on the proud tissue to remove it,as well as the honey around the wound and dressing it as described above, the whole idea to me seems very very harsh, I woud prefer to treat it with washing it daily with sterile saline then Furacin ointment or sudocrem then rap it with sterile gauze then the gamgee and vet rap, Can i just say that the wound is clean and the pony is showing no signs of being lame or in pain of any kind.
