Okay, I'm 100 percent stumped and I need some help. I have a 1997 grand prix, 3.8L v6 automatic. The car has been sitting for about a year, charged up the battery, it turned over fine, took awhile to catch ofcourse and after awhile it started up, ran a little rough, but ran. Drove it around, then parked it. Next day I went out to start it again and it would turn over and over about to catch, when i would turn the ignition id stop every about 5 or 6 seconds just because i didnt want to drain the battery. I was turning it over, stopped, then went to turn over again, and all i get is one single click, coming from behind the glove compartment. I immediately figured battery, that isnt the problem. Then i figured it would be the starter solenoid, replaced it, that was not the problem. Now when i was under changing the solenoid, i can touch a screwdriver from the accessory post to the starter and it will turn the starter over. But still with the key it will not start, just a single click. Then i figured the last possible thing it could be would be the neutral safety switch was bad, just replaced that today, and STILL just the one single click. Someone help me please!
