I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with about 130,000 miles on it. Recently I started noticing a spike in engine temperature while I driving. After awhile I noticed a medium amount of smoke coming out of my hood. I have a mediocre knowledge about the inner workings of my car so when I looked under the hood, I saw that only one of my radiator fans was working, and even then the working fan would only turn on sometimes. I'm gonna try replacing the fan motor but if anyone has any pointers I could use your help. Thanks

Your fan that is not working is causing the car to overheat. Replace the fan motor. The fans only turn on when the radiator gets hot , to cool it down. Once it cools the radiator the fans shut off. The process will start over again as long as the car is running.
