Pontiac 2001 Grand Prix - Engine shutting down-no restart?

My engine shut down the other day on the highway. I twould not restart so it was towed to my mechanic. He scanned about 8 codes in the PCM and upon reset, the engine started fine and he could not recreate the problem in testing, nor did any Check Engine alert come on. The 2nd day I had it back, it did the same thing. This time I disconnected the battery for 20 seconds. No start. Next I pulled the fuse in the main dash fuseblock for the ECM module. Re-inserted and no start. Finally, I pulled the ECM/PCM fuse in the engine compartment fuseblock and wah-lah. It started right up and saved me a tow.

What to do next is beyond me?
