Polyp or cyst in throat from reflux?

Has anyone had a polyp or cyst in their throat caused from acid reflux? I have a bad case of reflux acting up. Its been about a month with it flaring up. I woke up with acid and a bit of food that had come up to my throat in the night, yuck! I have had this lump just past my tonsil feel swollen down in there. I know something is there. I was wondering if it was a tonsil stone. yuck! I felt a piece of something break loose down in there. I have allergies too so my throat is going through heck. Any idea's? I will be seeing the doctor on Thursday.
 
I have a swollen lump on right side way back there in my throat. Have seen 4 ENT spec and have gotten 4 different answers so I'm afraid to have anyone mess with it. Last Dr. (allergy & Asthma) said it was caused by reflux and food sometimes gets caught, which causes me to go into coughing fits. Also, seems it's sometimes full of mucus. He called Zanker diver something and I'm supposed to go to a medical clinic but my husband has been having heart problems and I've had to put this off. Drives me crazy and causes LPR symptoms, which I have been diagnosed with. What have you been told?
 
I have a very bad GERD , about a year ago I had a cyst near my vocal corRAB. Not sure if its because of the reflux. So it could be that's what you have, or maybe allergies/virus caused some lymph node to swell?
 
May I ask...did you have a camera put down in your throat? And if so what was it like? What do they do? I am scared. I had that done down in my stomach a year and a half ago. I was sedated and they didn't find anything. This lumpy thing in the left side of my throat is freaking me out. Its just uncomfortable. Let me just preface all this by saying I have chronic bad allergies and have 3 shots a week for those. I am on allergy meRAB. I have reflux going on. Bad too! for 3 weeks now. It has just flared up. I had a tonsil stone break off in that area. YUCK!! but the swelling or thing is still there. Grrrh! I just hope its anything but cancer. I am a very healthy girl, never smoked never done drugs rarely drink! I am allergic to alcohol too. haha! Lucky me! So I just feel like what the heck!

So my question is...do they need to view with a camera most likely?

Yes I remeraber the doctor putting something about 14 inches long down my nose..no sedatives or anything. It didn't hurt at all, just a little uncomfortable. The whole procedure took couple of minutes. He told me I had a small cyst. I did get a surgery to remove it couple of months later, it was very easy as well. they did a biopsy and decided it wasn't malignant .
 
Hi Charberry, Thank you so much for posting here about your situation. I am scared. I am seeing the doctor in about an hour about this lump in my throat. I have had in about 3 weeks. I have reflux going on, and a tonsil stone yuck and allergies. I am praying that its nothing serious. I have a feeling she will have me have my throat scoped. Thats fine. I hate going through this.

I'll be looking forward to what you find out since we both seem to be in the same shape. And it's not good shape. I lost my job after working 25 yrs and my boss is in prison awaiting trial (Stanford Financial Group - Allen Stanford) I don't see being able to get or hold a job with all that's going on with me. The constant cough, clearing my throat would be enough to drive anyone crazy but the arthritis is so bad in my hanRAB I can't write or type very long. Had knee replacement and still have hard time getting up and down! I feel that this knot in my throat causes a lot of my problems but scared to have it removed since I've gotten so many different answers to what it is. One said (and I feel this is close) that it could be like a calous (sp) caused from the reflux going all the way to my sinus. I know the reflux causes my allergy & asthma problems and I took shots forever and my test look ok. If I just sit still all day, don't eat or drink anything or talk much....I'm pretty normal. LOL. I'll be thinking of you and wish you the best. I wouldn't worry about cancer. Believe me, I've worried myself sick already about that and as bad as my reflux is, I should have gotten it by now. Still, I continue to worry about everything!
 
Hi Char! I just got back from the doctor. She could not feel anything swollen or lumpy from feeling on the outside. I still complained that I didn't want to live with the unknown. So I will be having a CT scan in the morning of my neck. I am scared. Not sure what the results of that will show. I am thinking the camera will be next. They say they will be looking for any masses. Ugh. I suppose that would include cysts tumors etc...then we will go from there. She mention sometimes you can get a growth on the thyroid. I have hypothyroidism. But my thyroid is working perfect right now. So if there is a growth on it, its not throwing off the function. At this point its a mystery. They say people under stress can have phatom lump throat feelings. Weird huh? Funny how this showed up while my acid reflux is out of control. Will you pray for me tomorrow morning? I am scared. I pray its nothing serious. You are in my thoughts and prayers too. Thanks!! I will be back to let you know what I find out.
 
I have never been ordered a CT scan? You can see and feel the knot in my throat and if I push on it from the inside, you can tell where it's at. Not noticable from outside. My thyroid checked on fine (to bad because I wanted to have excuse for wt gain) I'm really not sure if it's what the last Dr. said it might be. Doesn't fit the description to me. I really need to get mine checked out but so far the ENT spec haven't seemed that worried about it. Only me! Of course, I will pray for you. I know having all these tests and scans are scary but I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about. The chance of cancer is very low. Lots of people get growths of some kind in all different places for reasons unknown. I worry because mine feels like it's connected to vein or on a vein? Reason I don't want anyone to try and remove it until I find out excatly what it is. Let me hear from you and I will be praying that all is alright. We've both been battleing with this crap long enough and know that stress will only make us worse.

Hi. I've been following this thread with interest. Over the years, I've had severe acid reflux, asthma and allergy problems. I suffered with LPR symptoms for years. It seems like a lot of doctors really don't understand some of the reflux symptoms either. It also seems like it is really hard to figure things out so often because so many symptoms can be common to others.

This may seem to be unrelated, but bare with me. I had some bad ear problems last year. My ENT's, Audiologists, and PCP's couldn't find anything wrong. Through months of internet searching, I got a clue. I went to see a jaw specialist and found out I had TMJ. My TMJ symptoms are a stuffy ear and ear pain from muscle spasms. I found a great sticky at the top of the TMJ board here. Your story here made me think of it. There is a huge list of seemingly unrelated things that can be signs of TMJ. Here are a few that made me think of you:

Throat Problems:
- swallowing difficulties
- tightness of throat
- sore throat without infection
- voice fluctuations
- laryngitis
- frequent coughing or constant clearing of throat
- feeling of foreign object in throat
- tongue pain
- salivation (intense)
- pain of the hard palate in the mouth

This may not be anything connected at all, but who knows.
